As a partner of the UPC, the Buehler YMCA shares the UPC's vision of strengthening collaboration between organizations in our community. Currently, the Buehler YMCA is in the process of strategic transformation to better align its programs and services with the needs of the Palatine community. Expanding and improving programming and services is at the forefront of this initiative.
This past December, Buehler YMCA partnered with The Bridge to open a satellite location within the Y. Ed Heiser, former Buehler YMCA Executive Director and current Vice President of Community Impact and Operations for the YMCA of Metro Chicago, noted, "We understood the need in our community to expand mental health services and by opening a Bridge location within Buehler YMCA, not only do we expand access, but we reduce the stigma and barriers of seeking mental health support."
Expanding partnerships with local organizations is at the heart of the YMCA's strategic transformation. Heiser added, "Buehler YMCA is committed to strengthening the community by connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other." Another partnership Buehler YMCA expanded in the previous year was with Palatine Celtic Soccer Club. A recent partnership agreement between the two organizations expands access to soccer programming for youth in Palatine.
In 2024, Buehler YMCA will reinvest in the facility's preschool to modernize and enhance the program. Additionally, the Y will construct a new family locker room to improve the experience of all individuals and families who utilize the facility.
Buehler YMCA provides a diverse portfolio of programming and services to the Palatine community, including fitness, aquatics, sports, gymnastics, summer camp, early learning, and school-age. In 2023, Buehler YMCA provided over $130,000 of financial assistance to youth, families, and members of the community to ensure access for all to YMCA programming and services.
